This is part of a series of articles on recycled fashion. This means re-using items, and can include re-using your own items that you never wear! Even if you can’t re-use them yourself, at least someone can if you give them away to charity. But it takes a good clear out to make sure you really do get rid of what you don’t need – and what you are left with is true eco chic fashion!
If you haven’t read part one yet, check it out! – Sorting Through What You Own!
What Do You Really Wear?
By now you have already gone through all your clothes to determine what looks good and what doesn’t. And you’ve probably still got an absolutely huge pile of clothes left! This huge pile isn’t eco chic fashion, it’s just you holding onto what you don’t need!
Now is the time to get even more ruthless. Even if something looks amazing, ask yourself – do you really wear it? Here are a few tips to bear in mind:
- Though it looks good, if it is uncomfortable then the chances are you’ll never wear it.
- Perhaps it still suits you, but it doesn’t represent who you are anymore.
- It looks good but you don’t have any occasion to wear it for.
- You don’t have anything that goes with it.
- Most importantly – are you being eco chic and honest?!
You should be ruthless here. Be absolutely honest – are you ever going to wear it, or could someone else benefit from recycling this clothing of yours? Put it in the pile that you’re giving away!
There is absolutely nothing wrong with donating clothes you have never worn. After all, donating them is far better than keeping them and never wearing them. That would be the real waste! So look at it as doing your bit for charity and sort your clothes properly. Keep reading next week for more tips on recycled fashion! Posts are on Tuesday!
